Have you ever finished a beautiful quilt top only to feel stuck on how to actually quilt it? Forget the struggle of wrestling a bulky quilt through a standard sewing machine or the steep learning curve of free-motion quilting. Welcome to the world of Edge-to-Edge (or End-to-End) quilting!
In this class, we’ll show you how to use your embroidery machine to achieve professional, "longarm-style" results. We use specialized designs that link up perfectly, creating a seamless, continuous pattern across your entire project.
Stop leaving your quilt tops in the closet! Join us and learn how to turn those "un-finished objects" into completed masterpieces with the precision of your embroidery machine.

Quilt sandwich as described below.* For our first project we are going to set up for success. Please have quilt sandwich made before you come to class so that you will be able to spend more time stitching

An edge to edge design (Designs by Juju has several wonderful designs that are at a reasonable cost. Check to see if your machine has built in edge to edge designs. This needs to be put in your machine’s memory or have it on a stick when you come to class. Put in the design that is closest to your hoop size, but not bigger than your hoop.

A magnetic hoop - This is a requirement to take this class….if you don’t have one, I would by the largest one that your machine will take. If you purchase a hoop from us for this class you will receive 15% off.

Quilt sandwich
In the class we most likely will NOT complete this quilt sandwich. However you will be brought through the steps to do several hoopings, connecting the two hoopings so that you have a continuous stitch across the row. We will also work on how to place the second row. AND we will go through stitching a partial hooping.
Edge to edge quilting can be used on quilts, bags, table runners, placemats and just about anything else that you want quilted. Personally I prefer doing lap size quilts or smaller and other small projects. I take my big quilts to a quilter. I find edge to edge to be very satisfying and better for my pocketbook!
*Quilt sandwich is 1 piece of fabric (your top) to be 36’ x 42”. Your batting and backing should measure at least 40’ x 46” You may have to piece your backing. Pin it before class please.

Class Policy
Thank you for considering classes at Family Sewing. Our classes require planning and preparation in advance including ordering materials and supplies, scheduling teachers and reserving our classroom space. When students request cancellations or reschedule at the last minute, it affects all of the above in addition to taking away a spot from someone who wanted to take the class.
We are unable to make exceptions to our policy listed below. That includes reasons of illness, travel, or work. If you are unable to attend a class at the last minute, please consider offering the spot to a friend!
If Family Sewing cancels a class for any reason, you will receive a FULL refund.
If you wish to cancel 21 days or more before the date of your class, you will receive a FULL
refund.
If you cancel 14-20 days before the date of your class, you will receive a refund in the form of store credit.
If you cancel 3-14 days before the date of your class, you will receive a refund in the form of store credit minus the Teacher Fee for the class.
If you do not cancel your class within 48 hours of the class start date and time OR you do not show up, you will forfeit your payment for that class.
If you register for an event or class with a guest educator, your class fee is nonrefundable.
